It tugged at my heart when I worked with Ami Simms to write the story “The Alzheimers Art Quilt Initiative – Going Out in Style!” for the June/July 2013 issue of Quilters Newsletter. I promised myself I would make a quilt to donate for their last big push. That was in February. There was plenty of time to make a small quilt.
Then suddenly, the deadline was nearly here. Susan Geddes, Quilters Newsletter’s art director, was working on her quilt and asked if I was going to make one. I told her I didn’t think so. Life had gotten really crazy. But I couldn’t stand it. I’d said I would make a quilt. I decided surely I could do something. So I went home that very night and started working on it. I made it. I finished it in time and I’m so glad. It was worth the extra scramble because the cause is worthwhile and it’s important to keep promises, even if the promise is to yourself.
When the deadline came, Susan, associate editor Mary Kate Karr-Petras and I had completed quilts. Mary Kate and I were laughing about how easy it is to tell who the quiltmakers are, so we decided to have some fun. We want you to look at the three quilts and tell us who made which quilt.

If you have a preference for which items you like, let us know, and we’ll do our best to make sure the winners get their preferred package though we can’t guarantee which prize a winner receives.
